Athlone Library is delighted to announce that it will host a talk by the best-selling novelist Monica McInerney on Thursday 17th November 2011.

The Irish American Post wrote "It's always an almost-sinful pleasure to delve into anything written by Monica McInerney, whose delightful prose brings her rich characters to sparkling life". Monica McInerney grew up in the Clare Valley wine-region of South Australia where her father was a station-master and her mother worked in the local library. She has lived for many years in Ireland working as a book publicist, both here and in her native Australia, promoting authors such as Edna O'Brien, Tim Winton and Roald Dahl. In 2006 Monica was the ambassador for the Australian Government's 'Books Alive' national reading campaign, promoting books and reading via libraries and reading groups throughout Australia.

Monica McInerney has written a string of best-selling novels including 'At Home with the Templetons', 'Those Faraday Girls', 'Family Baggage', 'The Alphabet Sisters', 'Spin the Bottle', 'Upside Down and Inside Out', 'A Taste for It' and most recently 'Lola's Secret'.

'Lola's Secret' continues the story of the Quinlan family, originally introduced to us in 'The Alphabet Sisters'
