Meetings of the Council

Athlone Town Council is required by law to hold an annual meeting, a budget meeting and such other monthly and special meetings as the members determine.

A Monthly meeting of Athlone Town Council generally takes place on the first Monday of every month (except August) at 6.00 p.m.

An Annual meeting, at which the election of the Mayor takes place is held in June each year. A Budget meeting is held in December/Janauary (as determined by the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Governement) to consider the Budget for the new year.

Committee Meetings of the Council take place as required. The Mayor can call a meeting at any time or any five members may call a meeting if the Mayor after requisition by five members does not call a meeting within seven days.
