Athlone Civic Amenity Centre
The centre is being run by AES (Advanced Environmental Solutions) on behalf
of the Council. The centre is located to the rear of Golden Island Shopping
Centre in Athlone.

- Newspapers/Magazines/Paper- (Dry and Clean)
- Timber (No sawdust, nails or bolts.)
- Waste Motor Oils
- Batteries (Car & Household)
- White Goods (e.g. Fridges, Washing Machines, Cookers)
- Electrical equipment (dryers, microwaves, electrical
radiators, TV’s, radios, Hoovers, toasters, fryers, electrical
knives, grinders, coffee machines, computers)
- Tetra-paks (e.g. Milk cartons, Orange Juice Cartons)
- Fluorescent Tubes & Lamps
- Metal Waste Cardboard
- Clothes
- Garden/Green Waste

Before bringing your items to the centre please ensure that:
- All Glass, Plastic & Tetra-Pac Containers are washed
and the lids removed.
- All Newspapers & Magazines are Dry & Clean
- All Metal and Aluminium cans are washed
- All Fridges/ Freezers are emptied beforehand.
The Civic Amenity Centre consists of Clearly Labelled skips and Banks in which
to place your items. Please
make sure to read and follow the information provided at the individual skips
to prevent cross contamination.
Help is available at the centre.
Opening Hours: Monday-Saturday 9.00AM to 5pm (Last entry at 4.50pm)
All electrical goods can be brought to the recycling facility free of charge.
There is a €2 charge per car and a €5 charge per car & trailer
for the use of the recycling facility for all other materials.
