Motor Tax

There is a Motor Tax online service available nationwide.

Motor Tax reminders will include details of the website www.motortax.ie or Irish version www.motarchain.ie and an individual pin number along with instructions on how to access the site. Payments will be accepted via credit and debit cards.

The classes of vehicle that are eligible for renewal online in the initial stages are: private cars, agricultural tractors/extractors, motor cycles, exempt (disabled drivers), vintage/veteran vehicles and motor caravans.

Motor Tax By Post

You can also do all your Motor Taxation and Driver Licensing business by post. Do not send cash by post or through the express postal facility. Check that you have all your documentation is in order and submit to:

Walk In Motor Tax Service

There is a walk in Motor Tax Service in the One Stop Shop in the Civic Centre, Athlone. We accept all major credit and Laser cards. The counter is open Monday to Friday 9.00am to 4.00pm. We close on public holidays and daily from 1.30pm to 2pm (Athlone only).
