Athlone eCom Ltd - the Athlone.ie Management Company

Athlone eCom Ltd. is a non for profit company which was formed by Athlone Town Council in January 2001 to promote and market the town and environs at local, regional, national and international level under the domain www.athlone.ie. A cross section of the community of Athlone is represented on the Board of Directors.

The initial athlone.ie portal was launched in December 2001. The portal has been further developed and promoted and the look and design has evolved many times since it was originally published online. It provides information on all things Athlone. Pillars have been developed to cater for the needs of visitors, businesses and people living and working in Athlone. An extensive database of services available in the area has been developed and a comprehensive events calendar allows the user to access information at a glance.

The existing look was launched online in December to mark 10 years online 2011 and further re-development work is currently underway.

One of the objectives of athlone.ie in the current climate is to support local businesses and organisations and provide them with an affordable platform to promote their business products and services online. With a current average of 750 unique visits per day it is an excellent medium to generate referral visits to their business.
